Personal statement for Urban Planning and Politics/IR

I’m currently in Year 12 studying Politics, English Lit and Sociology  I’m thinking about applying for a Urban Planning, Design and Management BSc (UCL) and Urban Studies BSc (also UCL) whilst using my other 3 slots to apply for Politics + IR courses in other London unis (QM, KCL etc.)

My dilemma is on whether or not it would be possible to write a single, broad personal statement which would encompass both pathways? Or would I have to contact UCL and submit a separate personal statement for the specific department as they are too different? (PS. I have already contacted UCL about this and am awaiting a reply)

Also for anyone curious, UCL is the only university (in London) which do the urban planning courses which are accredited by the RTPI, which is why I’m applying although it is quite different (?) from Politics + IR. Thank you!

Even if UCL are the only university in London that offer this course, there are universities outside of London who do. You likely won't be able to submit anything to their specific department, as universities will all read the same personal statement. My advice would to either have a broad personal statement (which will be difficult and could disadvantage you), look outside of London for university or commit to one subject.
