Mechancial engineenring foundation year

Hi everyone,

I'm starting a Mechanical Engineering course with a foundation year and would like to improve my math skills before the course begins. I currently have a basic understanding at the GCSE level, which is why I'm taking the foundation year. Can anyone suggest ways to enhance my math skills? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

You could just look up free online resources like the Khan Academy which is completely free, but I wouldn't stress it too much since the foundation year is designed to prepare you for the Uni level of maths.
I did foundation year myself a few years back and I remember being very comfortable with maths, which started at least at gcse level if not lower than that (I think we started from like calculating percentages etc) so I wouldn't worry too much.

All the best

Second this.
I studied mech eng as a degree apprentice with no A levels. Khan academy saved my skin. It’s very well structured and you can work through at your own pace. Regardless of how much they hand hold you in the foundation year, it’s an excellent additional revision helper.

Otherwise, since I prefer a physical book at times to online, I bought K.A Stroud engineering mathematics which I still sometimes use now. Super easy to follow and starts from absolute beginner level.

For eng statics and dynamic focussed applied math problems, I recommend Meriam and Kraige engineering mathematics for the same reasons.
