English Lit Personal statement

I’m about to start writing my PS for studying english lit and i have no clue where to start in terms of books to discuss. So far in Y12 studied Hamlet, Rossetti, An Ideal Husband and am currently reading The Great Gatsby. I’ve also read Jane Eyre. I was thinking about reading The Handmaid’s Tale and maybe The Bell Jar, but I don’t know if they link. Any help would be very much appreciated as i’m so stuck haha

For my PS, I just talked about a book I had read outside the spec, analysing why I think it is highly regarded in literature and some key ideas it explored. I then compared it to something else I had read and briefly mentioned the thoughts of a scholar. I then talked about what I liked most about reading and the world of literature in relation to these books.
