Bro pretty sure zinc was S cuz it does react with water
It reacts with oxygen in the air and water, but not directly water.

what did everyone get for the question with what the unknown substance forms with Florine - is it supposed to bE ZF2 or MGF2

ZF2 because you weren’t supposed to recognise it was magnesium yet

That's so true. my school gave our whole year group that paper to practice on a few weeks ago and I only got round to looking at it 20 mins before the exam and i only flicked through the markscheme and was so happy in the exam that so many of the questions and the set up was so similar. Maybe it would also be worth looking at paper 2 in case there are any similarities between those two from that year

For me it felt almost suspiciously easy bcs I did 2022 for a mock that I overthought it changed a few answers last minute and turns out they were right in the first place and I’ve lost lost 6 marks cus of it trust your gut guys

me too!! I've been trying to find someone w this mistake UGH I'm sk mad but yeah everything else was okay
How many marks will we lose for not putting minis

yep it was, i want to check the calculation answers with yall:
1) Isotopes calculation: 24.3
2) RF value = 0.615
3) number behind the compound (mole calculations): x = 18 (correct answer = 14) y = 10 or 9 (i cant remember) z = 10 or 9
4) 2755 for Q
5) 0.0085 for the enthalopy change question for magnesium pieces (correct answer = -550kj/mol)
These are all i can remember

I put Positive 550, will i still get some marks?

I said r, it doesn't react with water cause of zinc oxide coating, but does in acid.

You'll probably just lose one mark for the sign.

oh yh how did everyone do the graph drawing curve of rate of reaction when acid concentration decreased?
i put the curve with a steeper gradient as slower rate of reaction but I think the same amount of product is formed so the curve reached the same level (as in levelled off at same level, just afterwards) if that makes sense lol
some of my friends drew same graph curve but half the size but I think that's wrong?

it’s half the mass lost

Do you reckon I would get ECF marks for Rf value question as I measured distance of solvent travelled wrong but did everything else correct and also for the XYZ question, does anyone remember how much it was out of and if I would get any marks out of the total for that question for getting X and Z right ( the ones that were 9 and 10). Also for the relative Ar of magnesium question, how much was it out of and would I get some marks for not adding the protons and neutrons up but doing the rest correctly?

It would be same steepness at the start but then it would level off half the height of the original graph since half the concentration means there are half the number of particles in the solution.

I think they'll be reasonably generous? e.g. for the Rf question with the right method and enough working shown but one wrong value inputted I can see maybe -1 (if you're lucky).

How did y'all find the paper?
I felt that the paper was a little harder than past papers that i've done before 😬

GUYS DID U WRITE MgF2 or ZF2???? i wrote mgf2 but many ppl wrote it with a z. shouldn’t both answers be allowed they are both correct, tell me i ll still get the marks!!!

I put MgF2 asw

I put MgF2 asw
the fact that it was asking for the name of the element in the next q confused me

Yeah exactly that's why I was confused asw bc I had worked out it was magnesium before it asked so i thought I did smth wrong but idk

im pretty sure it stops at half way and levels off

omg i wrote mgf2 and then crossed it out bc i didnt know if u were meant tk if it was magnesium yet so i put zf2
