Triple science websites and advice

hi, i find myphysicsandmathstutor.com really useful for exam question practice and flashcards for triple science and english literature papers. Cognito is also a useful website for quizzes and exam practice with enough detail for triple science. I find gcp revision guides and seneca can be useful for understanding content but lack the full triple content detail.

My best advice for science would be to learn the exam command words (e.g describe means simply outline the process, whereas explain means say why this happens) as i find people loose the most marks by not answering the questions with the right type of knowledge rather than not actually knowing it.

Thank you completely bombed paper 1 chemistry as I simply did not know how to revise and I guess using only flash cards was extremely dumb

Do you have any advice for food? I’m also aiming for a 9 in food.

Flashcards are a great way to revise content, i would suggest making a few cards in context you really struggle with so you can solidify that knowledge completely rather than making loads of flashcards on the whole topic, so you become overwhelmed with the amount your trying to memorise and end up taking in nothing. Chemistry is a very hard paper and the grade boundaries are generally lower than other subjects, i wouldn’t worry too much i’m sure you’ve done better then expected

Hi, i achieved a grade 9 in this subject and i personally found Seneca an amazing website for food nutrition and health (aqa) as the content is almond identical to what’s on the spec. i would suggest making flashcards on the longer answer questions using the Seneca content (e.g how to use a temperature probe, the process of dextrinisation, etc) as this will help answer the longer answer 6-12 mark questions. Also printing off past papers and attempting to answer the multiple choice questions. i’d be happy to help mark any longer answer question you attempt

Of course, my best advice for sociology would be to learn the key theorists in depth, this will be the foundation of your 12 mark essays which you will have 4 of in paper one and paper 2. I suggest making flashcards of each perspective (functionalism, feminism, etc) and memorising each theorists name and perspective (durkheim, parsons, etc). The grade boundaries for sociology gcse are generally quite low, so if you can ace your 12 markers this will give you a good chance at passing the exam. you need to be writing an intro 2-3 paragraphs and a short conclusion for each 12 marker. include at least 2 different theorists and use many key words. i suggest making a mind map of all the key words you can think of in each topic (duel burden, nuclear family, expressive role, ect) so you can drop these in your answers. Using key words is the key to a good grade in sociology gcse.

Of course, personally for italian my best advice is to revise key words and phrases in depth so you can easily recognise them in exam questions. the biggest thing which looses marks is people not realising what the question is about rather then not knowing how to answer it with the correct knowledge. Some websites i found useful were ThisisLanguage for example practice questions, Quizlet for flashcards Of key words and exam command words and linguascope for good language examples for the italian writing element.

Ohh thank you so much, I'll definitely pick up on the specific phrases I need to know and I'll ask my school if I have a ThisIsLanguage login because it seems like a good resource!

Do u have any advice for Italian? There isn’t as much GCSE resources for Italian as there is for Spanish and French which are quite popular
