Student finance

Hello, I’ve tried to apply for student finance, I currently have a pre settled status however I’ve applied for the settled status, and I know I will get it before my course begins , however I’ve been told that even if I get the settled status today, in order to get the maintenance loan , I need to have the settled status 3 years prior to the start of my course. Is this true? My parents have a Spanish nationality so I was wondering if I should applying under family of migrant workers” to get the maintenance loan

Hi there,

When would your course be starting? When are you due to get Settled Status?

Thanks, Ross

Thanks for confirming. What status does your parent's hold in the UK? How old are you?

Thanks, Ross

If your parents work you can apply as a Child of Migrant Worker just now and once you have your Settled Status you can send your updated Home Office letter with new share code. Do you know the evidence required for the Migrant Worker?

Thanks, Ross

Okay thank you , I’m not sure what evidence is required for the migrant worker.

We'd need the following:

Your Home office letter and immigration status share code

Your parent Home office letter and immigration status share code

Your Birth Certificate

Your parent employment contract (or UTR Letter if self employed)

Your parents last 3 months worth of payslips (or invoices and bank statements if self employed)

You'd choose one parent to send the evidence over for.

Thanks, Ross
