Will retaking + doing a new A level be a problem when applying through clearing?

I didn't get the grades that I wanted for Biology and Chemistry, Biology I'm retaking but I decided to not retake Chemistry, I just don't do well in it , so instead I'm choosing to do A level Chinese for the first time, but this requires 2 years as it's incredibly difficult , so I'll be retaking bio this year , doing my Chinese exam next year , will this be a problem when applying to uni through clearing?

Clearing is only for those who have their results in August and want a place for this September..
No Uni will be interested in what you might get in another A level in 2025.

Why are you not intending to make a normal UCAS application?

Since I'm retaking my predicted grades would be the grades I got when I took the actual exams , and they're just not good enough

Are you intending to apply for autumn 2025 University entry?
Are you re-sitting A levels exams this June?

If its Yes to both of these, you can apply through UCAS this autumn with 5 choices - a normal application.
If you will have good achieved grades (ie. results this August) you do not need to wait for next year's Clearing

You can only apply through clearing if you already have an application so you would need to get an application in first.

I am a little bit concerned here. You took 2 A levels in life sciences suggesting you are looking at a life science course and are now trying to use a language instead. Often life science courses require Chemistry, Biology or sometimes both so basically it is really impossible to advise you on this. Many students apply with lower achieved grades and pending courses. Universities are aware of this.It isnt a reason not to apply earlier in the year. You can use clearing on results day if you dont have anything.

Hi, did you do your retakes through a sixth form/college? I was thinking of retaking my exams after this years exams but I don't want to retake chemistry either and was wondering if it was possible to ask to do another subject instead and whether this can be done in only a year if its not a hard subject.
