Palestine protests at unis/boycotts

is it just me that gets really annoyed seeing these students demanding the university to "divest" etc especially at unis like cambridge and lse, it just looks incredibly stupid and childish, demanding something from a uni you pay to go to and probably worked so hard to get into

also "boycotts" too, what good is that going to do? it is futile and foolish to think it actually does anything.

Personally I don't see why people care so much, they can't do anything to help, so why worry and protest so much?

because its their human right of free speech to speak up against a genocide that is unfolding before their very eyes

Its not true that boycotts do nothing e.g. McDonalds has lost $7 billion from boycotts which would have been used to support Israel. Also, the protests are raising awareness of what is really going on in Gaza and forcing the government to do something about when they see how many people are supporting Palestine!

"why worry" - because people have empathy, people have family over their, people are dying over there. What's going on in Palestine is so inhumane, so many people cant fathom whats actually going on over there - bc whats happening is so bad, you would think it would stop but governments just decide to look away. Countries are funding the genocide, people are writing praise on LITERAL MISSILES that will kill so many people. People care about this so strongly because the whole situation sounds like It would be from a gruesome action movie - but no this is real life, with real people, real children etc.

Its even more serious when you realize that countries preach about "being free" or "freedom of speech" but then they limit what's put on social media, they decide to stop protests or people speaking up about a genocide.
If it was you and your country, you would want people helping - and if everyone had the same mindset as you, then yeah nothing would be fixed, nothing would change. And you would just have to suffer. We have power to ensure that voices of Palestine are heard - they shouldn't be silenced.
I think you don't realize how much privilege you have and how much you don't care about the situation if you don't understand why people worry or protest about a situation like this. Its not like 10 people are dying - its like over 100,000.

Believe it or not but people have empathy for other people on the other side if the world, and people realize that yeah they worked hard to get into a university - but that doesn't mean they should be silenced - just because they've worked hard to get into the education they are in, doesn't mean they shouldn't have any morals or human decency.

Don't kill Jews and nothing of such would have happened.

If this isn't bait, this is an especially disappointing comment considering you're much older than a lot of students on here and almost 30.

Here's a question for you to think about. Why are there Jewish people who protest against the state of Israel existing, if Palestine is 'killing Jews'?

Just don't think too hard about it, else you might hurt yourself...
