STEM exemption for 2nd degree

Hi,

I’ve read that you can get funding for a second degree.

I have already used up my student loan allowance for undergrad for prior funding on an undergraduate degree in drama. I did not finish the degree, nor get a lower qualification.

Therefore I cannot get a student loan for a new undergraduate degree since I’ve already used up my allowance.

I saw about the STEM loans for degree holders and it seems unclear. Do I have to have a degree to be eligible or do I just have to have already taken out undergraduate loans?

I’m looking to do an undergraduate degree in Computing so it would be STEM related.

Thanks.

The STEM exemption is for studying a second degree of equivalent or lower than a qualification already held. It’s only for part time study. If you didn’t gain a degree then it’s not relevant for you.

The previous study rules for part time study are much more generous than full time. You are likely to have funded years remaining to study a second degree in any subject part time.
