Can I start Als while im preparing to retake the Math Exam?

I couldnt do well in my Math paper in my Edexcel IGCSE (my exams are yet to finish and results aren't out yet, but I know i did terrible in the paper). Assume that i got below a grade 4 for Math, is it mandatory that I retake the Math exam & if so can i still apply for Als & start Als while preparing to retake the Math Exam? My plans for ALs are Commerce subjects; Accounting, Business Studies & Economics.

It would certainly be advisable to retake Maths if you got below a grade 4 and plan to continue your education beyond GCSEs.

Whether or not your chosen sixth form / college would accept you into the A level courses you've mentioned in those circumstances would be a decision for them. They each have their own policies and entry criteria.

Hey, thanks for the speedy reply. If im retaking the math exam, i could retake it seperately right? like, just the math exam without all subjects & am i considered that i fail the whole exam because i scored below a grade 4 for Math?

I mentioned a grade 4 because many colleges (and universities / employers) use either that or 5 as the threshold for entry. (Government publications often refer to grade 4 as a “standard pass” and grade 5 as a “good pass”.)

You're welcome. I just noticed that I missed the "I" when you mentioned "Edexcel IGCSE".

I said above that "if you were thinking of retaking in November (rather than next summer) then you could only retake Maths and/or English Language (as they're the only GCSEs available in the November exam series)." That is accurate. However, they're not the only IGCSEs available in November. The full range are available, should you wish to retake any other than Maths and/or English Language.

None of that is really relevant - I just wanted to correct the inaccuracy.
