Mech Eng at Southampton or Robotics Engineering at Bath?

Trying to make a decision between these two. Mech Eng was my original choice but got an alternative offer from Bath for Robotics. Bath is my first choice Uni and I'm hearing lots about Robotics being great for the future but wonder how true that is in reality in this country as leaders are probably Japan, Germany etc.
Has anyone got any experience of studying Robotics to give me more info to help make a decision or info on Mech Eng at Southampton. I've attended open days at both, offer holder events and studied course info but still can't decide!!! Worried about making the work g choice ...

ive just studied my first year at soton for mech eng and its been great. However both of these unis are on par with each other and for both courses are very strong. Bath has quite a poor nightlife as ive heard but is a beautiful place to live, it is also a campus uni if you prefer that. Soton is a campus/city uni but all the accomodations are walking distance to campus except from the one in city centre.

Your going to be studying this for the next 3-4 years so it needs to be the discipline of engineering your most interested in if your not a massive fan of programming and mechatronics then robotics probably wont suit you. You need to sit there with both courses open at the same time and compare the modules and what you would like more for each years. Both unis do industrial placement years aswell which is great and defintely worht considering. If you have any questions about any of southamption first year modules just ask away or anything about soton in general and ill try and reply

Robotics is focused on electro-mechanical control and is focused on a few areas of mechanical & electrical engineering. Whereas mechanical engineering will cover control systems bit will focus much more broadly on important areas of mechanical science across structural, thermal & fluid systems.

Id choose the course you are most passionate about.

I know many of the boys i met at southampton studied mech eng, apparently its really known for engineering. They also have their own campus specifically for that which is 5 mins from the main campus
