What branch of science deals with this?

What branch of science , or is there at all a branch of science , that deals with investigating why things are different, why things are similar, how things change and why others stay the same?
What kind of ’things’?

What kind of ’things’?

“Things” as in all life itself on earth and perhaps beyond within the universe and all life whether animate or inanimate— to question why is it that there are different animals both in appearance and behaviour , different human beings in both appearance and behaviour , different shapes in the world , different numbers , different rocks , different letters , different sounds , different colours amongst many other things in this world and question why they are different rather than the same . Perhaps this would move itself into wider subjects beyond something like just biology

Most of that falls under the remit of evolutionary biology, but you’re also touching on things like geology, physics and sociology.

Things like The Blind Watchmaker address why there is such variety and complexity in the natural world.
