Interesting article that I’ve read and it doesn’t surprise me that the UK has some of the highest rates of obesity in the G7 and possibly Europe.

I am surprised that it's Wigan that is the obesity capital of Britain.
I would have expected it to have been a place like Middlesbrough, Stoke, Hull or Liverpool for England.
Somewhere like Blaenau Gwent or Merthyr Tydfil in Wales.

People living in northern town with high levels of poverty and with limited opportunities do poor job of looking after themselves shocker.

Yes Wigan frequently pops up as one of the poorer parts of Britain I think when I watch the news.

I think before you can take pride in Britain, you need something to be proud of. That starts with competent government.

When the government of the day has an international trade policy that has done harm to business with no discernible upside; has ignored the housing crisis and allowed it to get worse year on year again with devastating impacts to businesses who need to hire people on reasonable wages; has ignored the growth of the kind of gig economy jobs that the people doing them have no reason to give a **** about because they're barely better off than on benefits and when benefits aren't enough to actually live decently on then it's little surprise that we're turning into the kind of **** hole country that has a tiny elite and a massive proletariat living in squalor.

And of course, being British, we're not even going to do anything to complain about it that involves leaving the house.
