Psychology Conversion and Funding Future Courses

Hi,

I’ve just finished my BA in Social Science and looking to study a psychology conversion with the open university (my degree wasn’t a focused on psychology as I first thought). Ideally I’d then like to study forensic psychology as an MA but unsure which university this would be at (most likely Napier due to location)

However, I was wondering if anyone knew if the MA would need to be self funded or not. I’ve seen some say as the OU course for MA psychology conversion is part time it wouldn’t impact me in getting further funding but saw others say both would count as masters regardless meaning the latter would be self funded.

I’ve contacted SASS multiple times too but don’t seem to get a straight to the point answer on this

Best to ask Student Finance England about it, but as far as I understand, all Masters degree attract very little funding to begin with and so you're very much expected to self-fund a great chunk of them yourself in the first place. The conversion course to psychology might be different because it's effectively retraining you to do something else, but I'd advice you to check how much funding you'd get and if that's enough or if you'll need to supplement any money you might receive with work.

P.S.: Forensic psychology is a Master of Science, not of Arts.
