Bursary

Planning to study ODP in Sheffield hallam. I was contemplating on applying for a maintenance loan to cover travel costs, etc.. however, if I’m entitled to a bursary, I’d rather not add on extra debt.

I have a single parent, who earns less than 20,000 yearly.

So I just wanted to know does Sheffield hallam provide bursaries to ODP students? If yes, how much and how often?

HI there,

Yes, as has already been posted, https://www.shu.ac.uk/funding/scholarships-and-bursaries is the link to all of the bursaries and scholarships that Hallam offers.

You can go into each one and it tells you more information such as who is eligible, how much you would receive and how often.

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

Hello,

Others have already linked to our bursary and scholarship pages, but I wanted to tell you about NHS bursaries too. As you're intending to study ODP you may be entitled to the NHS Learning Support Fund. You can find out more about them here:
NHS financial support for health students (7th edition): NHS Learning Support Fund - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
NHS Learning Support Fund (LSF) | NHSBSA

If you're eligible, you can get:

a training grant of £5,000 per academic year

parental support of £2,000, if you have at least one dependent child under 15 years, or under 17 years if registered with special educational needs

money back for excess travel and temporary accommodation costs (Travel and Dual Accommodation Expenses) while you're on your practice placement

students experiencing financial hardship (Exceptional Support Fund)

Hope that helps

Hello, just adding to this thread of our SHU Progress Scheme which may be beneficial for you, (SHU Progress | Sheffield Hallam University), SHU Progress provides support for applicants whose personal circumstances might mean that there are barriers to going to university. The scheme provides additional support in the year of application and throughout the application process, including your transition to becoming a university student. If you're looking to join Hallam in September 2024, the scheme is now open.
