I misred the English lit question

I wrote a really good essay but it was for the wrong question. The question was a theme with a character and I only talked about the theme and didn’t read that it wanted the character. I didn’t mention the character at all. It wasn’t a bad essay, I think it would be in the top grade boundaries if it wasn’t for the wrong question. I feel a bit stupid. Do you know how many marks I could lose? It was the inspector calls question (the second one) out of 30.

I'm not sure on exact number, but you might get half marks if it was really good? Did you not mention the Inspector at all?

Nope sorry you will probably do really badly. The question was about the inspector, and his relation to social class. The sub-topic points were also only related to the Inspector. It was a character question in essence. Hopefully your other components can pull this up.

I didn’t mention the inspector at all but do you think I will get marks for my context, quotes, analysis and points on social class in the play? I appreciate that I have messed up so I am not expecting a good score but it was otherwise a good essay

ok if you didn't mention at all then idt you're getting more than half marks if I'm being optimistic, because the question was mostly about him. you'll get some marks but probably no more than a level 3/6, probably lower tbh

Okay thank you, I think that one mistake has probably dropped me down a grade unless I have done ridiculously well on the other questions which I don't think I have as I am usually only borderline into the grade I want. How irritating. Thank you for my help

I'm not sure how reliable this new info is, but apparently you get separate marks for AO2 and AO1 so if analysis is good you could still get in the 20s?? I really don't know whether this is true or a tiktok myth though, maybe best to ask your teacher too?
