can i still get a 2:1 in dissertation???

dissertation. can i get a 2:1?

can i still get a 2:1 in my dissertation if the rest of my dissertation is very well written but my discussion had a few minor errors.

this included the lack of a full stop after two citations at the end of a paragraph

also the limitations and implications section had started to be explained but we’re a bit vague and could’ve been improved by more detail and references.

other than the discussion the rest of my dissertation was very well written and included list of references. the conclusion and critical analysis of my findings in my discussion were good too.

will these minor errors mean i am not allowed to be awarded a 2:1, which requires a full understanding of the topic?

please let me know.

thanks!

Hi there,

From what you've described, it sounds like your dissertation is well-written overall, which is great news. Minor errors, such as missing full stops after citations and some vagueness in your limitations and implications section, won't drastically affect your overall grade, especially if the rest of your dissertation is strong. Assessors usually focus on the overall quality of your argument, the depth of your research, and your critical analysis. A comprehensive literature review and critical analysis are the crucial elements. Given that your conclusion and critical analysis are strong, and you have a comprehensive list of references, it seems likely that you can still achieve a 2:1.

Each institution has its grading criteria, but a few minor issues won't be a problem. If you're still worried, it might be helpful to look at the marking rubric provided by your university. This should give you a better idea. I hope this helps. Good luck with your results.

Hey there,

Apologies for the delayed response!

Missing results can significantly impact your grades, compared to minor errors. Please look at the rubric/ handbook for your dissertation. It will give a clear idea of what is expected to get a 2:1 in your dissertation. If your dissertation has a strong base with a comprehensive literature review and methodology section, missing results might just slightly affect your grades. However, it depends on the requirements to achieve a 2:1. Hope this helps!
