You need to choose a proper question to answer for your epq. You need to choose a question that will have enough evidence for you to answer
how is game theory appliacable to real world scenarios? how can game theory be used to explain behaviour ? how can game theory be used to explain the cold war? so far what i might do

You're question can be something that interests you, which will motivate you to actually do research onto your question. Just make sure it links to your preferred subject and also make sure you'll be able to find enough research evidence (Eg books, news articles etc)
Check the specification. If it does, you'll need to go quite far beyond it to ensure you are able to do it as the core focus of your project.
there is a very breif mentioning of it in the form of the prisoners dilema (famous game) to explain oligopoly behaviour, but it is only mentioned once and takes up about a qaurter of a page.
does game theory overlap with aqa alevel economics to much for it to be viable to do?
I don't know if this is too late, but game theory is a useful tool for answering a large number of policy questions. You could spend some time looking into studies by economists that employed game theoretical approaches (usually studies on individual decision making or oligopolies). A really big topic is Cournot/Bertrand/Stackelberg models of oligopoly, which you might find interesting. Alternatively, you could look into social choice and welfare (look into Amatrya Sen's work on Arrow's impossibility theorem), or the folk theorems if you want a more technical spin.
If you want to learn more about game theory itself, then I would highly recommend William Spaniel's YouTube series titled, 'Game Theory 101'. It offers a very broad intro to game theory which is approachable even for someone with little prior experience.
