Hi I’m applying to Cambridge in October and I’ve seen lots of people say the college you apply to has a big effect on your chances of success, wondering if anyone has any college recommendations

Not sure if college choice makes much/any difference to your chances of success. The famous central Cambridge colleges (plus Churchill for STEM) will get more applicant per place than the less popular colleges, but you also have a higher chance to get pooled if you apply to more popular colleges. When you look at the application stats, but include those being successfully pooled to another college, the success rates across colleges are fairly similar. A less popular college might for example reject everyone that applies to them directly for a particular course, and only take from the pool.

It's unlikely to make any difference to be honest, other than minor personal factors (e.g. if you live far from your lectures would you be less likely to attend them). You will attend the same lectures and sit the same exams as everyone else.
