Fangirling, friendships, crushes.. help

I'm an undergrad student (male) & there is this girl in my accom who, although idk her very well, we have walked past each other & said hi a few times & i see her around a bit occassionally, but idk her very well. Then, last week, I bump into her in this communal space & she just suddenly starts saying these lovely things to me about how she loves my smile &, no matter what day of the week it is, I'm always smiling & that she's proper fangirling over me & she thinks I'm really cool. She looked genuinely delighted to be speaking to me. I was completely surprised (in a nice way!) by the whole conversation, it was very unexpected & so kind & generous of her to tell me those things. I'd really like to get to know her more &, while I know this convo with her was only last week, she's on my mind a lot & I'm quite attracted to her warmth & her honesty & her kindness & I like that she's drawn to my personality (not just my appearance). I'd like to get to know her more & see if we could be friends or maybe more than that, but I don't want to get ahead of myself.
So, i am gunna try to talk to her. I don't see her around often, so I'm thinking I'll put a small note under the door of her shared-flat, leaving my number & asking if she ever wants to talk or meet-up (but not in a pressurising way, obviously).
But I just want to ask: this girl said she's proper fangirling over me & I'm not really sure what that means in this context as I've only heard of fangirling in relation to celebrities/bands/actors/shows etc. So what does it mean that this girl is fangirling over me when I'm just a random guy living in the same building as her? & could the fact that she said she's fangirling over me mean that she might like me / be crushing on me? Or could it just mean she'd like to be friends?
Thank you for reading & I'd appreciate any advice & perspective! Thanks 😊
she probably sees you as a potential romantic interest? at least from what i gather! always better to assume that she just wants to be friends for now though. i would maybe just give her your number when you see her next time instead of slipping her that note, or finding her social media if you know her name and giving her a follow

Thank you for the perspective! I know her name, but I think I'll give her my number when I next see her as I don't have much social media
This is very sweet. Have you both spoken more?
