Van Mildert College Durham

Hi I just got allocated to Mildert and it was one of my last choices, trying to look on the bright side! Can anyone tell me anything good about the college?

as someone who put van mildert as their second (after marys) and has also been put in van mildert:
THE DUCKS!!! (it literally is the reason it was second)
i’ve looked at tours on youtube and it looks cute (depending on how much you like the colour yellow)
the view outside with the pond is very pretty
it’s like a 7min walk to the main site and 22min to the city?
it is catered and has a very big dining hall
i can’t think of more from the top of my head but have a stalk on instagram and tiktok and get general vibes.
what did you originally apply for??

ah, cute, my boyfriend wanted chads but he also got van mildert lols
looking through the social media pages though it has good vibes and there are LOADS of formals
good luck in your (im assuming) a-levels and possibly see you at freshers!

I’m in the same position- trying to look on the bright side but my brother keeps calling it van mildew 😭😭

Hi, I just got allocated to Mildert too! It was my 3rd choice after Castle and Johns and it is really nice!!! When I viewed it I saw that it is super light and airy in the college (not oppressive at all) and the dining hall is so peaceful. The lake is really nice and the ducks are sweet. They are all single rooms with masses of storage, great views, large and possibly one of the nicest I've seen. I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't gowned as I had ideally wanted that, but the positives seriously outweigh that tiny negative. Colleges and societies look great, and if you see their website there are some really great videos of past freshers weeks etc. I think its a nice place with nice people and you'll fit right in!
