a levels and bad mental health

i think i’m going to mess up my a levels. i’ll probably have to resit all of my three subjects. my mental health is really poor right now and i’m having family issues too. i got into a big fight with my parents last week and that has made it harder for me to motivate myself to study. my latest exam has been terrible and i have another one tomorrow too but i’m finding it impossible to sleep. my concentration has been deteriorating and i keep wanting to sleep even during the day. on top of that i have undiagnosed adhd (my school has already made a referral ages ago but waiting times are incredibly long) so motivation is not something that comes to me easily anyway and this is making it even harder.

right now a gap year where i resit my a levels is looking like the most likely option. i’m planning to do economics at uni, will top unis accept me if i resit…? (i'd like to go to kcl or qmul) and what’s the price for resitting? do you have to attend classes or can you just study individually on your own?

Hi, im kinda in the same situation so I hope you don’t feel alone! I have an offer from the Uni of Leeds and qmul for comp sci but I doubt I’ll be able to get my predicted grades due to poor mental health. I’ve emailed both those Unis and they said that they accept resit applicants. I also emailed KCL and they said that they do also accept resit applicants however they may favour a student that received those grades the first time round, but you should still reapply! Also, about pricing, it really depends on where you live and how you do your resits. If you do it through your school it can be cheaper but you might have to attend lessons, however as a private candidate you can expect a single subject to be £300 , but think of this as an investment in to your future.I hope you take care of yourself so if you decide to resit next year you can smash those exams!! Idk if this was useful but if you have any other questions ask your teacher because students have probably asked about this before.Good luck!!

hi, thank you for your reply! i doubt i'll be able to redeem myself with paper 2/3 so resitting is looking more and more likely for me. but it's good to know that qmul and kcl accept resit applicants. good luck to you as well!!

Regardless of what you get on results day don’t let it get you down! As long as you know your potential and are willing to work to achieve those grades then taking one year out is better than settling for less than what you’re capable of. You’ve got this!!
