Would Private School affect gateway to medicine?

I am wanting to apply for gateway to medicine at Aberdeen and Dundee university. Would going to an independent school affect this? Also, would I still be able to access widening access as I meet the criteria

Check the eligibility criteria carefully on each individual course page.

The whole point about Gateway courses is to widen participation to Medicine, and therefore they target those at specific state schools, or low-participation home postcodes, or care-leaves, refugees etc. It isn't a conventional Foundation course for those just with weaker grades.

Hi! If you meet the widening access criteria for G2M at Aberdeen (can't speak for Dundee) and have meet/are able to meet the academic entry requirements you are guaranteed an interview. Although, it is very likely that they'd prioritize other applicants after the interview phase who do not have access to the education you do especially given how competitive it is. Saying that it really depends on your own widening access background and I am only speaking from my own experience as an applicant and not someone who actually works in the admissions process
