Grey's College students

Hello!
I have been allocated to Grey's (my 1st choice) and I know some people are not happy with been allocated here as it was not near the top of their list, but I just wanted to reach out so that we can potentially be friends  I am going to do Modern Languages (Spanish and Beginner's French) btw

Hey thank you for replying! I'm sorry that Grey's wasn't your 1st choice but hopefully it is an opportunity to become friends 🙂 your degree sounds so cool, I had considered beginner's Russian but decided French would be better. Perhaps you could help me learn it in the 1st term lol. Whereabouts are you from? I'm from the East Midlands so Durham is going to be a big move. Also the year abroad doesn't seem real to me at the moment haha.

the more i actually learn about it, grey’s actually looks really nice! they’ve def got lots of things to do around the college. spanish sounds fun! honestly kinda throwing myself in it with russian but i can definitely recommend french!! (you stop hating the grammar eventually lol). i’m from brighton so it’s pretty far, but the year abroad still looks really exciting, would you go to spain then??

Yeah I chose Grey's because it seemed to have a good nerd ethic lol and the people seem friendly. The JCR activities also sounded fun and opportunities to volunteer are really important to me. Spanish is fun when you're not doing exams lolol. For once in my life my speaking actually went smoothly and for my real thing so I am so relieved about that lol. Yes I have heard the complaints about grammar haha. Wow yeah Brighton is quite a while away. My cousin lives there and the rest of my family is from down south so really that's where I should be but nvm. Well I'm not quite sure where I would go, it is likely I would go to Spain but I could go to Colombia or Mexico etc if there were opportunities over there. I would also be splitting my year abroad in half, so I will be spending some time in France too! Shouldn't get ahead of myself tho haha, got 2 years of uni in between.

we love to have that academic environment. they have the charity society right? i’ve been looking at that one plus maybe being able to work in the bar (always need the extra cash!). i’m so glad we got the speaking exams out of the way early, and yeah it felt like the odds were in our favour for the card topics 100%. i’m jealous, never been to south america but it seems like such an amazing place to travel. but definitely excited for spending some time in france, would you want to study or get a placement??

I believe they do! I'm absolutely in, I was part of a charity club in secondary school so I love being a part of raising money for charity. Yeah I will also need to get a job but idk if I could work at the bar, too much noise and alcohol for my liking haha. I guess I'll just have to see what's available. Yeah thank the lord we could just pick one of the AS topics lol. Ofc I've also never been to South America, or anywhere outside of Europe at the moment, so it would need a lot of planning if I did choose to do that. I would absolutely love to study but realistically, I don't know if I'll have the funds for it so might have to get a placement, at least for one of them rip. Hopefully I can be as frugal as possible with my money (I'm not much of a spender at the moment anyway) so that I have more opportunities on the year abroad.

have you already looked at the unis they’ve partnered with? it’s crazy to see all the possible places the language students could go. but same i’ll probably have to look at a placement or internship. its definitely smart though to think ahead, honestly i’m not the best financial planner which is something to work on in the next few months. btw, do you have insta or something similar? 😊

yeah, the range of places available is quite exciting 🙂 I have so many things to prepare over the summer: credit card, clearing out/organising my room, buying new things etc - so stressful but hopefully will be worth it! I do have insta but I only use it on browser on my laptop (deleted it cos I spent so much time on reels). It's pixiedust91011 with a profile pic of the Louvre glass triangle lol.

Hi!! I'm so happy to have found this. I also got allocated grey but it was my 8th choice but now having made PEACE with that allocation, I'm actually quite excited about it. Weirdly, I'm also doing modern languages, I wonder if Grey is somewhere they dump all the language students! I'm doing French and beginners German )
