help - a levels law/ppe at durham/ idk what to do

ok hi so I've applied for law at 5 very competitive unis and took a fat risk and didn't get in any (coz of my lnat) which is entirely my fault given I took the risk, but I used my extra choice to apply for ppe at durham and I got it shockingly
I didn't ever think about going I applied for fun but I wanted to ask anyone else thoughts on this? part of me is think is a gap year worth to reapply for law but then part of me is thinking go ppe and do the conversion course instead? I'm not too sure if ppe at durham is great either I can't find much info about it

If you actually have an interest in PPE, then by all means go to Durham, but don't settle simply because you don't have any choice right now. If you are still considering studying law then you could go into clearing once you receive your A level results or take a gap year and reapply with your achieved grades. This way, the only hurdle you have to overcome is the LNAT, but you'll have had plenty of time to practice and improve your score by the next sitting. If you do decide to take a gap year, it might be worth applying to less competitive universities or ones that don't require the LNAT to maximise your chances of getting an offer.

Hi @lolicbaforthis27

The real questions you have to determine are whether you want to study PPE and whether you want to study at Durham. If your answer to either of these is 'no' then I think you should take a year out and reapply or try and go through clearing. If, on the other hand, your answer to these is 'yes' then you should go for it. I did the conversion course and it has had no negative impacts on my success so far in pursuing a career in law (lots of lawyers do the conversion course rather than a undergrad in Law). Therefore, there is no need to worry about future prospects but simply think about the present. It is important you enjoy your time at uni so you can do your best and also get every ounce of experience from the years as possible.

I hope this helps and good luck! 🙂
