Student finance financial assessment

Hi,

I recently applied for student finance as an estranged student and got the application approved but to my knowledge, I don’t think I was financially assessed? My university gives a bursary for individuals with household incomes under 25000 (which I know I meet this requirement) yet when I contacted the university for my legibility, they said it depends on what student finance tells them. SFE didn’t ask for any documents regarding my income, just proof of estrangement. Is there any way to get financially assessed so I can be legible for the bursary or not?

Hi there,

If you applied for estrangement then we'd require that evidence to financially assess you. Have you returned it to us? If so, when?

I returned the estrangement form a few weeks ago and got my application approved. Though I got an offer from another uni and just changed my university on my application today (so need to get it approved again). In the form it didn’t ask if I earned less than 25k so I’m not sure how my firm uni would know that?

If you're accepted for Estrangement you'd be classed as independent. We don't require your own income for the application as you'd receive the maximum amount.

hi, thats correct, I receive the maximum maintenance loan but I was referring to the bursaries available at my university. I technically qualify for the low income household bursary yet they said they can only give the bursary to me based on the information received from student finance. Do you think I’d be legible for the bursary or not?

You should be yes. If your applications approved for the maximum then notify your university of this and they should be able to assess you for the bursary.
