Surrey's grade Leniency

Hi guys,
I have Surrey Law LLB as my top choice (required grades are A,B,B) and I have Surrey Law but with a Foundation Year as my insurance choice (required grades are C,C,C). Currently doing my A Levels and my exams haven't gone as well as hoped; mainly due to time. What I wanted to know if I got 1-2 grades lower, is there any chance that I could discuss with Surrey to let me onto the normal 3-year course?

But hopefully, I am just overthinking my exams and I am on track

Extra Context
I have a B in my EPQ (would of needed to get an A for it to effect my offer) I am hoping that may also help and have an effect)

These sort of decisions are made by Unis a few days before formal Results Day - Unis get the results from UCAS a few days before applicants do - and the decision you see when UCAS reopens is very final and not up for negotiation.

Work your socks off and keep your fingers crossed - that's all you can do.

What if you already have received your grades and apply as a gap year student?

If you apply with achieved grades, then any offers you receive will be unconditional.

Hi @hsnsn

Congratulations for your offers to study Law LLB!

If you hypothetically achieved 1-2 grades lower than the entry requirements for the normal 3-year course, I’m afraid it’s not guaranteed that you would be able to start on your top choice. The reason why they’re set that way is due to the demands and rigours of the course.

Surrey Law with a Foundation Year is an equally good course and you’ll still be able to graduate with a law degree in the end. For now, I would recommend to not worry about it too much and just focus on doing well on your exams and EPQ.

If results day doesn’t go to plan, you can always come chat with the staff on the clearing hotline found on the website on the day. In the meantime, I would recommend signing up for our clearing updates to keep you in the loop over the next few months. https://www.surrey.ac.uk/clearing

Wishing you the best of luck with your exams

There is no point in doing this. If Surrey doesn't give the OP a confirmed place on results day and they end up in clearing, they won't be able to reapply to Surrey through clearing. They would need to search for clearing places at other unis.
