aqa gcse sociology paper 2??

so i can't find a forum for sociology paper 2 that was today- so i wanted to ask ym how you found it? everyone in my school hated it, and a lot of people like on the internet hated it too- my teacher was even a bit skeptical about it. but i thought it was fine 😭😭 the only question i was a bit iffy on was the life expectancy one and that's about it really. what about you guys?

do you remember exactly what the life expectancy quesrion was

it was linked to the data. it was basically telling you to identify and explain (couldve been describe i cant remember) a factor for the difference in life expectancy in the item. (women had higher life expectancy than men in the data)

bro idk 💀 i spoke about expectations of women to like stay in the house and take care of themselves and the pressures of like the media to be healthy and do this and that so that kind of like over time makes them healthier??? since like they aren't exposed to the same health and beauty standards as men?? i really don't know 😭😭

What did people write for the social construct 12 marker?

literally TT it wasn't too bad for me either even the 12 markers but some the 4 markers (the 16-18 victims of crime one along with the life expectancy) kinda threw me off - was just yapping tbh. hope the rest of the exam was good for you and good luck with the rest of the exam season

i wrote that crime and deviance are socially constructed because acts only become criminal/deviant when labelled as such, and whether they are crimes/deviances depends on the reactions of others and who performs the act
also included becker by saying acts are only socially defined as criminal or deviant by the label placed on them
for against I wrote how crime results from the class structure in Marxist society rather than being socially defined. In other words, crime is a by-product of how capitalist society is structured. Because of the unequal stratification and opposing interests between the bourgeoisie/proletariat, crime is an inevitable outcome.

I thought that paper 1 was much harder than paper 2 im still upset about it though as ive been getting grade 8s this whole time but im not sure if i will get it in my actual gcse's lollll. I liked the question on disability but i never learnt about pilot studies so that was a nasty shock

Thanks for answering my question about the 12 marker btw and I’m my opinion both papers were a bit horror I’ve sat all the past papers in my mocks and have gotten strong nines in all of them but these papers have shattered my confidence tbh and I genuinely feel like I’ve bombed it especially the 16-24,young people in crime,pilot study,underclass question.I can’t stop thinking about it really and I can’t quite gauge the grade boundary situation either as it’s 2 separate marks for the papers😭🙏

its really okay- don't worry about it 😭 because you can't change it now, and you'd be surprised at what they actually award marks to. my teacher always says to me that "just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean it's not right" so if you wrote something that doesn't make any sense, it might make sense to whoever's marking it so it really is subjective. if your average grades for sociology are really that high that i'm sure you'll still do well!! i'm predicted an 8, and i think i did around that or even better- but i didn't ace EVERY single question for sure. so, honestly you're gonna be okay and if anything i don't think you'll get less than an 8. just focus on the rest of the exams we have and you'll be fine 🫶

For the life expectancy one I wrote about the longer life expectancy for men and women in the south of the country rather than the north, rather than compare men and womens expectancy. Hope that was ok, it still seemed a valid point to make from the data 🤷*♀️
