Hi! I’ve put Exeter as my insurance choice and I’m expecting that I’ll end up there, but I can’t apply for accommodation until it’s my firm, which obviously I will only confirm on results day.
Does anyone know if this means that there will be no rooms in good accommodation? I’m hoping for Holland Hall or Pennsylvania Court. I’m also not really sure how applying works. Thank you
I've now looked at the 2023 applicant to bed ratio and it seems like Pennsylvania court would be out of the question, so I'll probably put Holland, Mardon and Lopes. Does anyone know my chances of getting into those? I just don't know how many slots will get filled up by people getting rejected by other accoms, or how many spaces might open up on results day

Hi anevbr,
This changes year to year based on how many applicants we have. To fall under the accommodation guarantee, you have to apply by 31st July which means these students have top priority when it comes to accommodation.
If some applicants unfortunately miss their grade requirements or decide to attend another university, this will free up spaces in accommodation. If we have not filled our accommodation spaces with students under the accommodation guarantee, these will also be offered to those who apply after 31st July. We try to inform students of the situation with accommodation spaces as soon as possible after results day, but if we do not have spaces to offer then this will mean looking at private sector accommodation. If you have anymore questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Hi! Thank you very much for your response, I was also wondering just how likely it is that accommodation will become available post-results day? Do many people end up not attending the university therefore freeing up spaces or is it most likely that I will have to apply for private accommodation? Thank you

Hi anevbr,
This varies a lot yearly, so unfortunately I can’t answer that. Some years we have filled all our spaces, whereas some years we have spaces left over. However, if we do not have spaces, we aim to let prospective students know as soon as possible, normally via Facebook. Here is a link to our page about accommodation for insurance holders which might help you. If you want anything clarified or you’re unsure of something please don’t hesitate to ask!

Thank you again 🙂 ! Sorry for all the questions, but I checked what happened last year and it looks like the university was able to guarantee spaces for late applicants?

No need to apologise, thank you for the question! Yes, so that would’ve been because we had less applicants, or because some applicants unfortunately missed their grade offers. There have been some years where this is different naturally, so definitely keep an eye on our Facebook page or clearing page to see what’s happening on results day with accommodation.

how does applying for accommodation work for penryn campus?
A good question - it depends if you are applying through Clearing or if we are your insurance choice. If we are your insurance choice then from 8am on Thursday you will be able to log into our Accommodation application portal and apply for accommodation that way. For students applying through clearing, once you have an offer it can take up to 24 hours for your details to be added to the portal - then you can apply through this.
In both cases details of how to do this will be emailed out to you; my main advice is to read emails you get from us very closely as they will have lots of useful information with details on what you need to do next.
Hope this helps - do let me know if you have any further questions I can help with.

how do we know our login for the accommodation portal if we're insurance applicants
You will need to create an account - in order to do this you will need your student ID (this will be on emails from Exeter), name, email and DOB. If it doesn't work it might be because your record hasn't been transferred to the Accommodation system yet, this can take up to 48 hours. If after this time it still isn't working you can call the team on 0300 555 0444 (+44 1392 72 4724 from abroad).
