Is this abnormal? Thoughts please!

So this has been going on for many months after I turned 14. I can't recall this happening when I was 13, only after I turned 14. I've been genuinely in the mindset of being 12 after I turned 14. I legit keep forgetting I'm 14 and sometimes I'm almost surprised I'm not 12 anymore. I'm always told I look 11 or 12 by everyone I know too. I actually remember it happening more after so many people would say I look 12 online and wouldn't believe me when I told them I'm 14. This might play as a factor plus I don't like being 14. Idk if I'm age regressing or I have memory loss because I literally forget my age at times. It's been becoming a daily thing where the whole day I think I'm 12 and get reminded I'm actually a teenager now 😶 Idk why this rarely happened when I was 13. Maybe it did and I don't remember because I can't really remember much from when I was 13 actually.

So basically my guess is I'm age-regressing or memory loss? Does anyone else have any idea why I'm forgetting my real age 24/7 and feel younger? Has this ever happened to you?

ermm sounds weird, never heard of it and I've never experienced something like that. Maybe you should get help from a professional?

I don't think this is anything to worry about- it's completely normal to struggle to adjust to change! I'm in Year 13 now and I've definately had similar experiences over teens. It sounds like it's become a bit of a repetitive thought process for you, but seriously you will grow out of this.

You might actually be expereincing something we look at in A levels psychology called proactive interferrence. It's an explanation for forgetting, basically that old information prevents you learning new information. The thought that you're 12 is preventing you remebering that you're actually 14 because your brain got used to the old information. I think this will fade in time though, and 12 and 14 aren't all that different so it's not suprising you've got a bit mixed up lol

I think that’s normal, it happens to me a lot. When someone asks me my age or I’m thinking to myself I say that I am 16/17 when I’m 18🤦🏾*♀️

happens to me to- im turning 16 soon and i still think I'm 12. I think it's because it feels like time is going faster. When I was 2, a year was half of my life (so a long time) but now a year is a fifteenth of my life (which is much less). Also when your younger your age is so important - I remember looking down on 8 year olds after I turned 9 - whereas now it doesn't matter. I wouldn't worry too much about it but if you are concerned you could always talk to someone or do some research! 💕

i think that happens to most people. and i think as you get older it gets worse, because its triggered by memories. also, as you get older i think years mean less, they sort of just blur into one another and less changes in your life. im almost 30 and sometimes i find myself remembering when i was much younger, so i dont suddenly think im that age again, but in effect i am while im thinking about it. and ill admit sometimes i wish i did have a time machine to go back to things i liked or didnt like, so i could change them.
My husband constantly forgets his age. I'm not as bad myself but it's a very common thing.

I am 13, however, I am a physicist and this proves that you can do all kinds of activities no matter your age! Also, check your date of birth to reassure correct calculations.
