The Student Room Group

Application was withdrawn and I'm from the Commonwealth

We have now withdrawn your application to join the British Army.

If you would like to continue your journey, the good news is, it’s nice and easy for us to do! You just need to let us know, so please get in touch as soon as possible.

If you have had any issues in your application or with your online portal, we can also help with this when we talk.

We are very sorry to see you go and hope to hear from you again soon or in the future.

Kind regards,

Army National Recruiting Centre

So my application was withdrawn because I couldn't book my flights(financial difficulties) to the UK .So if I had all of it figured out (money saved) ,is it still easy for me to continue my journey(can I just call and let them know) or do I still have to reapply ?

Hi Leis, sorry not sure why you’re asking random strangers on the www about your application? The message you’ve pasted invites you to contact the recruitment team by reply to their message or using any other contact details, so that’s what you should do . I presume you would have had some reference number for your application, so please use that.

Good luck

---**Subject: Appeal for Reconsideration of My UK Army Application**Dear Sir/Madam,I hope this message finds you well. My name is Aadesh, and I am a Commonwealth candidate from India. Recently, I attended two assessments for the UK Army. During my first assessment, I was initially rejected due to a medical issue related to my ear. However, after consulting with my GP and submitting the medical report, the Army accepted my medical condition, and I was invited to attend a second assessment at Lichfield. At the second assessment, I successfully passed the medical examination and proceeded to the next stages. Unfortunately, during the numeracy test, I made a serious mistake. I took a photo of the question on my phone, not realizing that this was a violation of the rules. I did not intend to break any rules or gain an unfair advantage. I was simply confused by the question and thought I could review it later when I got home. I immediately deleted the photo and did not use my phone for any calculations.During my interview, the Lichfield manager informed me that I had breached the rules but also mentioned that I would be given another chance to attend an assessment in three months. I was told that I would not need to redo the medical tests and that I could resume the process from where I left off. However, the following day, I was informed by my recruiter that my application had been rejected entirely. I am deeply disappointed by this decision. I fully understand that my actions were wrong, but I genuinely had no intention of violating the rules. I have dedicated a significant amount of time and effort to this process, and the decision to withdraw my application feels disproportionately harsh.I am requesting that you kindly reconsider this decision. I acknowledge my mistake and will ensure that it never happens again. While I understand that some form of penalty may be necessary, I respectfully ask that you consider allowing me to reapply sooner than the one-year waiting period. The current decision is having a significant impact on my mental well-being, and I sincerely hope that you will grant me the opportunity to continue my application in the near future.Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response and hope for a positive outcome.Kind regards, Aadesh ---This version aims to be respectful, concise, and clear, while showing an understanding of the mistake made and a genuine request for reconsideration. Let me know if you'd like to make any changes!

As an ex-military Recruiter who had 2 candidates have their applications suspended for cheating on tests, do not send this letter. If you have been told to wait a year before reapplying then you wait a year before reapplying and be thankful that you haven't been blocked completely from trying again. It is not 'disproportionately harsh' to punish you for a breach of trust and failure to follow the rules; those are not traits that are compatible with Army service because you are expected to obey instructions and you could be handling sensitive information that shouldn't be recorded and effectively 'removed' from its location.

To say you had no intention of violating the rules is not a defence, because that is exactly what you did. You would have been briefed on the test conditions and other people managed to follow them, people have also 'dedicated a significant amount of time and effort to this process'. You don't have a case for reconsideration, so wait it out.
