Grade 9 French phrases

I really need complex phrases to wow the examiners… I know about the subjunctive etc. I’m really looking for cool idioms and complex vocab. Can anyone suggest anything? I’m doing AQA

i am doing edexcel higher, but its all the same language so im sure you can still use for aqa! i also came on here looking for some phrases. i already have a few: (sorry for any missing accents)

1.

ma mere ma dit que... mais je ne suis pas d'accord= my mum said that... but i dont agree

2.

j'ai toujours voulu= i have always wanted

3.

j'ai passé un bon moment= i had a great time

4.

si j'avais la possibilité, je voudrais= if i had the opportunity, i would like...

5.

d'habitude= normally/usually

6.

je trouve ca= i find it

7.

souvent=often

8.

surtout= especially/above all

9.

cela me rend...+emotion= it makes me feel

10.

il faut que je fasse= its essential that i do/ i need to do

all these phrases can be changed to a different tense or used with a different pronoun

for structuring my questions, i check with VASSA:
V- VERBS (conjugations, tense)
A-ADJECTIVE (agreement, placement in sentence)
S-SENTENCE STRUCTURE (does it make sense?)
S-SPELLING/ ACCENTS
A- ANSWER(have you actually answered the question?)

make sure you have used a variety of tenses, and lots of time phrase words or connectives. also try not to repeat the same verb to much. i also recommend leaving a line between each line so you have room to edit.

good luck!!

Idioms:
"Il faut garder la tête froide" = it is necessary to keep calm/ keep a cool head
"Ça coûte les yeux de la tête" = it is really expensive (basically the English equivalent of it costs and arm and a leg) (direct translation is it costs the eyes out of your head)
"Quel dommage" = what a shame
"Il pleut des cordes" = it's raining heavily (basically the English equivalent of it's raining cats and dogs) (direct translation is it's raining ropes)
High level vocab:
Qui = who (eg ma sœur avec qui je me dispute souvent)

For AQA but u can still use them for other exam boards in writing tasks
