Student finance England and escaping abuse
Hi,
I have recently become estranged from my parents because I have escaped to a refuge for domestic violence. I am not allowed to contact my family due to safety concerns. However I am worried that I won’t be able to receive independent student status, for estranged students because I have been in contact with them in these past 12 months. Is the rule regarding how long you’ve been estranged strong? Or do you take into consideration fleeing abuse?

Hi there, I have responded to your other thread but all evidence will be reviewed and determined by the assessors. They'll look at the situation and each student's circumstances on a case by case basis. Thanks, Jason
