kicked out of school at the end of year 10

Ive been permanently expelled from my mainstream school for fighting and they are looking at sending me to pru. As im at the end of year 10 and have already done alot of my coursework i dont want to start at a new school which also doesn’t offer the same options as my old school. Is there any way for me to carry on my studies at home and still sit my gcses when i should or start college early

To have been sent to the PRU is quite serious as it usually means other schools are no longer available to you.

However, it is within your power to turn things around and the fact you are here shows that you do. You can complete your GCSEs in the PRU but sometimes you may not be able to continue with all your subjects. That should not stop you from studying hard and doing your best. Home schooling might be difficult to arrange, plus you would need to be accepted by an exam centre to sit your exams. Your old school is unlikely to accept and I do not know about others.

A college is unlikely to accept you a year early. However, you may be able to pick up an extra GCSE or two whilst there or complete a wider variety of courses (A levels, T levels, BTEC etc), depending on the college.

Some colleges are selective and may have entry requirements (minimum grades etc) and also look at your references, esp your behaviour, but you can demonstrate your hard work and good behaviour during your year at the PRU.

Speak to the council or people at the PRU about your options and how you can proceed to minimise the negative impact of being permanently excluded.

Life is what you make it. Good luck. 🤞

What have your family said about this? Do they understand how a PRU works? Have they discussed how you would continue your studies? Would they be happy with you at home?
