How bad is it to care too much about others

When others do not care about you to the same extent? Should you lower your own moral expectations so that you won't feel too hurt when that happens?

You don’t have to lower your own moral expectations as truly being caring for another is already understanding that they may not treat you in the same way - it’s human nature.

Moreover, we can’t control our moral expectations as even if we suppress our emotions, it’d eventually get to the best of us. So it’s normal to feel hurt when we don’t receive the same caring attributes we hope for.
