Today the Green Party have kicked off their election campaign and want to challenge 'timid' Labour party.
They are also aiming to secure at least 4 MPs, with candidates fielded in every constituency.
The Green Party are hoping to encourage Labour to be bolder on the climate, NHS and housing.

Restrictions on the Lords?
Scrapping FPTP and switching to Proportional Representation?

That’s it I’m sold lol , haven’t bothered to properly read the document though but I saw this so far.

The Green Party have said that relying on GDP as a way to judge the state of the economy is not the way to build a fairer society

Self-ID for trans and non-binary people (which presumably also means legal recognition of the latter); not many details though.

"We would cease development of new nuclear
power stations, as nuclear energy is much more
expensive and slower to develop than renewables.
We are clear that nuclear is a distraction from
developing renewable energy and the risk to
nuclear power stations from extreme climate
events is rising fast.
Nuclear power stations carry an unacceptable risk
for the communities living close to facilities and
create unmanageable quantities of radioactive
waste. They are also inextricably linked with the
production of nuclear weapons. Green MPs will
campaign to phase out existing nuclear power
stations."

Yeah, I'm a little too pro-nuclear for the Greens, despite agreeing with a lot of their other policies.

Opposition to nuclear weapons is dangerously naïve enough in the current geopolitical climate, never mind opposition to nuclear power.

I'd go as far as to say anti-science opposition to nuclear power is as dangerous in the face of climate change as anti-science anti-vax sentiment was during covid.

opposing the nuclear deterrent is harmful enough for britain's global military and political standing and should be immediately disqualifying for a party, sure; but opposing nuclear power for reasons of false psuedoscience is just incredibly negligent and anti-science and does massive long-term damage to the global environment, energy security, and the economy. not investing in nuclear power enough already has caused economic and environmental problems and will continue to do so, there is no excuse not to increase nuclear power output, nevermind get rid of it entirely.

To be fair countries like France who are majority nuclear and are trying to go renewable/use less nuclear so you could argue that countries like the UK are behind in this regard. What the UK is trying to get into, France is trying to get out of.

Normally I’d support the UK not having nuclear weapons but I agree that in the current climate (with the Russian invasion of Ukraine) this goal is unsustainable.

France isn't trying to get out of nuclear anymore, that aim has largely been abandoned and the stupid politicians that supported it have long been out of power. Nuclear power plants continue to be built and repaired in France because they now realise, especially in the aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, how important sustainable nuclear power is.

Makes sense for them to backtrack.
