Uni grades

Hi I’m in second year at uni of Liverpool doing law. I was wondering how the grades are calculated. How much of second year is weighted to calculate the final grade. Just for context my second year and third year are both 120 credits. So is it 50:50?

Also let’s say I average about 65 percent in second year, if I get a 70 in each module which weights 15 credits and there is 8 modules in third year- my overall degree doesn’t average to first class :frown:

Like the bar is so high or what are the tips to get a first class overall, if I average 2:1 in second year. Because being realistic it’s gonna be hard to get a first in all modules in third year- and even if I do get at least 70 in each, it still doesn’t overall average out to be a first. Or I might be wrong, because I used an online grade calculator.

I know I could ask my tutor about this too, but she is not available. So any help or extra tips would be appreciated on how to get a first and what should I focus on. Because I’ve heard some say that, if you get a good first in 3-4 modules and let’s say 2:1 in few modules that would still be enough to get a first. But idk how. Thanks

It's all explained here, I believe...

Hey thanks for the reply, it says that it’s weighted 30:70 for second and third year. What does that mean tho😭 like again I know my overall grade for second year is weighted 30 percent I guess. So like only few modules would be considered? Or let’s say, do I still have chance to get a first, with a 2:1 in second year. And when I say first, I mean easy first 💀😭, not requiring me to get 80 and 90 in assessments. Just good enoguh between high 2:1 and first class. Would be enough to get a first?

Look at sections 1.4 and 1.5 regarding your first question.

How can anyone assess your chances of a first when we don't really know what marks you have been getting?

I was asking in General, if I end up yk getting a mid 2:1 in second year. Am I still in the race to get a first in third year? What I mean is, like ofc I can still get it, but like yk im still in a comfortable position. And I wouldn’t require like 80s in exams to get a first overall. Ofc I’ll be aiming for those, but with a mid 2:1, if I don’t get a first class in all of my exams in third year, I was wondering if I still have a good possibility to achieve a first. Considering the weightage of 30:70. Anyways thanks for your help, I was trying to find that document but I couldn’t.

Given how much more heavily third year is weighted, then a 65 this year and a shade over 72 would suffice. And that doesn't allow for section 1.6, which deals with near misses.
