Accommodation Bristol Medicine

Hi, I’ve firmed my offer at bristol to start studying medicine in September and I had a question regarding clinical year placements. I am worried about the cost of rent in Bristol and know that the clinical academies are based outside of Bristol e.g. bath/gloucester. I have heard that accommodation at these academies is free whilst you are placed there. My question is, is there some way of doing it so you don’t have to pay for a full year’s rent in Bristol during years 3/4/5 if you are on the outside placements to save money? Also, how does transport to and from these academies work if you need to get to/from Bristol. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Hi, I've also firmed my offer for Medicine at Bristol this year. From what I have read, people either get shorter term rents for when they have placements based in and around Bristol or are already house sharing and return to Bristol for the weekends. I guess it is up to personal preference and situation at the time. Not sure about transport, I'm afraid. I know that some medical schools will provide funding to help with this travel but I haven't heard anything like that from Bristol. Hope this is helpful. Have you confirmed your accommodation for next year?

currently 3rd year Bristol med student - you can apply for priority placements to spend the whole academic year in two out placements so you dont need to rent in bristol. you'll need to supply a bit of evidence saying you're financially strained but can't remember the parameters off the top of my head. should be fairly easy though.
