Exams special consideration due to mental health

this might be a bit of an extreme topic, but I’m curious as to what will happen with me.
I recently had a severe mental health crisis. I was admitted to A&E, and have both a GP and discharge note. This was a day before my further maths exam on wednesday. My college has said that they will apply for special consideration, & I am wondering what will happen. I have read that there are different tiers to special consideration, but also that in the case of long term illness, special consideration will not be given. While I have had this problem for 3+ years, it has only just been formally acknowledged like this, so im unsure as to what will happen.
any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Talk to your Exams office at school/college - or your Head of Sixth or similar - about notifying the Exam Boards.

If you are applying to Uni this year, its also worth your school/college emailing a brief letter to both your Firm and Insurance choices - and you really should think about a gap year, so ask each of them about deferring your offer/place to 2025 entry.

My college know about this, they’ve applied for special consideration, that’s the same as notifying the exam boards? Sorry I’m not quite sure about everything that can be done.
In terms of notifying my insurance and firm. I’m confident I’ll still be capable to achieve the grades required, but idk what I would I say even if I did email them. Just that I have special consideration or should I explain what happened? What can they even do with that information. I didn’t tick the box during applications that mentions any mental health so

hi! i hope you're doing a little better now and your exams are going well. i've just seen this and hope its not too late to reply

i recently had a similar situation, although it was a little before exams, and i was discharged in may. i also didn't tick the box about mental health when i was applying to uni or give them any information about what i was experiencing, but since i was discharged i decided to let my firm choice know.

it's been really helpful so far as i know that i'll continue to struggle with my mental health whilst at uni, and they've been reassuring about the support that they have in place and the services they can offer. it's also helpful because it means they can get any accommodations or support for you in place before you arrive, so you don't have to be speaking to various people when you just want to be enjoying fresher's week. i think it's also helpful to just be on the same page with everyone just in case you don't meet your offer, or if you struggle whilst at uni which causes you to fail exams or coursework, meaning there's pre-existing knowledge of what's going on for you

i will say though that when i contacted my uni they did ask for quite a lot of information from me in terms of doctors notes etc, so it possibly could be a good idea to tell them that you would send those after your exams are done as it can be quite taxing whilst doing exams. i asked my parents to email the uni and doctors etc just to take that stress off me.

do ask if you have any more questions
