Physician associate preparation

Hello,
I am very excited to be starting the physician associate masters course in September. I know that it is a very intense course so I was wondering if any physician associates or student physician associates can recommend any resources/books to help prepare? I would really appreciate it thank you:smile:
How are you planning to fund it, I start in September also

I don’t really have a plan, I will take a student loan but I’m quite worried about how to fund the rest. I think working during the course is strongly advised against. What is your plan? And what uni are you going to?

Are you living away from home? I'm also due to start my physician's associate course in September this year

I'll also be living at home during the course I think it's just easier and saves a lot of money

I haven’t decided if I’m gonna accept my offer yet because of the whole funding issue. But for now my plan is to work full time till September and then possibly take out a private loan to fund the rest. The private loan isn’t ideal so my backup plan is to get in to January intake uni so I have more time to save.

Start planning now how you’re gonna fund the course because it’ll be a lot less of a headache and I heard unis don’t let you graduate if you don’t pay the uni fees. hope this helps somewhat

Honestly I'm the same, i will take the student loan but then i will still have £11000 left to pay. We get a £5000 HEE grant so i will use that, and I have applied for a scholarship. We will only have time to work weekends

There is a book that was published last year with tips and tricks once you get onto a PA course - Physician Associate Survival Guide (Amazon). This might be helpful for you.https://www.amazon.co.uk/Physician-Associate-Survival-Guide-Surviving-ebook/dp/B0C9XDZ32Z

Stethoscope -Littmann Cardiology Master IV = expensive option / Littmann stethoscope classic iii = Cheap option

Other resources -100 top drugs & Oxford handbook of clinical medicine

The book I'd published uses the old 'matrix' of conditions - https://work-learn-live-blmk.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/MSc-PA-Matrix-of-Core-Clinical-Conditions.pdf

Find the new content structure used by courses now - https://www.gmc-uk.org/-/media/documents/pa-registration-assessment-content-map_pdf-87634361.pdf
