Invisalign or Braces?

I have an underbite and want to straighten my teeth. I got quoted 5k for both options but don’t know what to go for?

Braces would be about a year and a half while Invisalign is two years. But I’m a little reluctant to go for braces because I start work soon.

I’m not sure what to go for but the dentist recommended Braces - but either option would work fine.

Anyone have any advice?

from someone who's had braces, they're not cute lol. And they make ur lips stick out more (cuz obv now ur lip has to go over this big metal thing). If it's the same price I'd go for Invisalign - is this in the UK tho cuz 5k is insane?? Mine were half of that amount and it was done privately.

Then again I don't have the Invisalign experience and I know you have to keep taking it out to eat or drink.

But getting food stuck in ur braces is not a look at all, and the rubber things stain. And considering you'll have to wear a retainer for a few years after that, may as well just get Invisalign.

So all in all - Invisalign. But ive got the braces bias.

Thanks for your advice! Yes it’s in the UK - 5k is crazy but I went to a few other and got quoted about the same.

Was your braces done in the Uk?

I think I’m leaning more towards Invisalign just not looking forward to wearing it 22 hours a day 😭

Yep mine was the UK! Though i got them in yr 6, off in yr7 and I'm now about to finish yr 12. Things don't cost what they used to lol

If I had to do it again I'd definitely do Invisalign. I was told to wear my retainer for TWO years every night after braces, ended up doing two and half thanks to the pandemic. Then my orthodontist told me another 6 months. I wasn't going to be wearing my retainer for 3 yrs so I stopped and now it doesn't fit :frown:

My teeth weren't that bad to begin with so they haven't shifted that much. But I think it'll be easier to carry on with a retainer if that's what you begin with. Be prepared for a lot of cuts and slits on the sides of your mouth tho! (But that was with a retainer, invisalign might be made to avoid this idk)

i'd go for clear aligners if i was you. no one wants metal in their mouth. Invisalign are pretty expensive so look around for other types of aligner provides, they're pretty much all the same like https://www.smilewhite.co.uk https://smilecorrectclub.co.uk and https://paygaligners.co.uk - just find one that's got a dentist near you.
