Do I work at my hometown on weekends?

Hi! So basically I've dropped out of first year uni once before but I've been working on myself and am ready to go back this year. I'm looking to go with 2k saved and with the idea of getting a job in Southampton. (Additionally, rent is already covered by SLC and I'll have 1.9k worth of loan money on top of what I have saved)

I work for a company that allows internal transfers and I've applied but of course it's not guaranteed (apparently 5 people have applied to move to that store already). My mum was saying to come home every weekend to work in the store I currently work in, I understand why she's saying this but I really don't want to do this.
I feel like until I get another job, the money I have will be okay- as long as I'm smart and budget it. I don't want to miss out on socialisation or time to relax as I'll be making journeys to and from my hometown every week. I'll also be 21 at this time, I don't want to be someone who's still so attached to their hometown, I feel it's time I move on.
I also hate the company I work for LMAO

Would I be stupid to not do this? I just want to know what others think!
Thank you for any advice, I really am stressed out about this whole situation
Have you looked into getting a job closer to your uni, especially if you aren't happy in your current one?

I don't see the point in spending money to make money by travelling every weekend. Plus, as you say, you'll miss out on socialising, relaxing - and, most importantly, time to study!
