Is it Advisable to get an E Scooter in the uk as a uni student?

I’m going to uni in September and I’ve been watching YouTube vids on how much public transport is kinda expensive and certain people recommended to get an E scooter but at the same time I’m confused on whether to even get one. The unis policies are against E scooter on campus but at the same I really want one because it will allow me to arrive around Nottingham freely. Any advice?

The use of privately-owned e-scooters on public highways is effectively illegal. See https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/powered-transporters/information-sheet-guidance-on-powered-transporters

There are e-scooter trials in certain areas; see https://www.gov.uk/guidance/e-scooter-trials-guidance-for-users Note that these trials apply to rented e-scooters, and not to privately-owned ones.

You can ride an e-scooter on private land not accessible to the public, with the permission of the owner and/or occupier of the land.
