Hello, I was just wondering how the catered accommodation system works? What exactly happens with catered accommodation. Are you limited in what you can eat as part of the catering offering?

Hi @cyrusmaq Catered accommodation is available in 4 of the college (County, Bowland, Lonsdale, Cartmel), and there are a few food outlets around campus students that catered students can eat at. As part of the catered option you get breakfast and Lunch or an evening meal provided. You can apply to be catered when you do your accommodation application. More information can be found here Catered Accommodation - Lancaster University. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! -Jasmine (Lancaster Student Ambassador)

Hi. I was wondering if you have catered accommodation, can you eat at The Marketplace if you are living in Lonsdale or Cartmel accommodation or vice versa if you are in Bowland or County college and would like to eat at Barker House Farm? Also, if you have catered accommodation, can you have a to-go meal if you are in a rush to get to lectures?

Hello @MC&SC Your college will have a set place that you can go for catering so if you are in county or bowland this will be the Marketplace, and if you are in cartmel or lonsdale this will be Barker house farm. This is quite nice as the food outlet will be close to your accommodation and means you can eat with other members of your college and flat mates. I'm not sure if you are able to get meals to take away, if you email the accommodation team on [email protected] or your college manager they should have some more information on the catered scheme. Hope this helps! -Jasmine (Lancaster Student Ambassador)
Catered accommodations usually provide set meals at specific times, and while the offerings might vary, they often have limitations based on a menu or schedule. It’s convenient, but sometimes you might want more flexibility, especially if you have a busy schedule or specific dietary preferences. That’s where options like a micro market vending machine could come in handy—offering quick, fresh snacks or meals outside of set catering hours. It’d be great to have more variety for those who need something on the go!
