A level choices (French, Economics, English Language)

Does anyone know if this would be an appropriate combination of subjects to pursue international law, finance, economics?

It would definitely be suitable for Law as for law you can really have any A-Level combination so long as you display good engagement with the subject in your personal statement. For finance and economics degrees I would check the websites of any unis you're planning on attending to see if they require or suggest maths a-level for the courses. Even if they don't suggest it, Maths A-Level can still be useful on straight economics courses, as there are quite a lot of calculations as well as theory. Some unis even give lower offers for students with maths a level vs without, for example, Birmingham give A*AA to students who apply without maths a level and AAA to those who apply with it. Some unis also require you to have a certain GCSE grade in maths if you don't take A-Level Maths which is another thing to consider.

It's absolutely still possible to only do economics a-level and get into a great uni to do an Econ degree but just helpful to be aware of different uni's stances on it!

Economics without Maths will restrict your choices for an Econ degree.
For Law, you just need three top grades, there are no specific subject requirements.

Thank you! Just trying to keep my options open, im not to sure about economics either and am considering history. But im worried also that i would be taking 2 essay subjects and a language all at once, so maybe too much to memorise there haha

I'm currently doing history, politics and French so 100% understand your concerns!! initially it feels like a lot, but its is definitely manageable if you make your resources as you go along and generally revise consistently - I love doing history and French, they are a great combo! go with subjects that you enjoy

Hi, I currently take both economics and French, as well as maths. I have found economics really interesting and enjoyed it but have definitely struggled with French. I thought I was good at French at gcse and got a 9 but found the a level much harder than my other two subjects. Many people in my French class share this opinion and it is potentially stopping me pursue economics and others in areas like law or medicine. Whilst it is interesting, if you are not finding it natural/very easy and not interested in book/film you will study I wouldn’t recommend French
