Why does my calculator give an answer in decimals rather than as a square root

I have an fx-cg50 and I put cube root of square root of 27 into the calculator. It gave me a decimal. I looked at the mark scheme after finishing the practice exam paper and cube root of square root of 27 simplifies to square root of 3, but my calculator wasn't able to convert it to square root of 3, it just gave me the decimal even after pressing the S<->D button.

err my calculator does the same - but im like 90% sure thats what its supposed to do.

same thing happens if you type 3^(1/2) rather than sqrt(3)

For this question I feel like its more the case of simplifying normally with indices laws rather than just using a calculator.
so ((3^3)^(1/2))^(1/3)
(a^b)^c = a^(bc)
so = 3^(1/2) = sqrt(3)

then you can use your calculator to check if the answer is equivalent.
