How to sit in GCSE Exams in November 2024

Good day!

We came in UK in the start of Feb 2024. I did Matric from Pakistan. I was told that it is equal to GCSE and I will easily get admission in A Levels. I have applied to multiple colleges but they are not accepting Metric and asking to provide GCSE results.

As GCSE exams are already taken placed, so I couldn't register or sit in the exams in May.

My questions are:

Can I sit in GCSE exams in November and what is the procedure to apply?
Do I need to appear in all GCSE subjects or only Math and English would be enough? and If I do Math/English, will it be acceptable for A Level admission?

If I couldn't get A Level admission in September session, I am afraid my whole year will be wasted.

Your help and advise will be very helpful for me.

Thank you.

You will need to do english language and maths. Do science GCSE if you are picking biology/chemistry/physics A Levels, as colleges often require a minimum grade of _ (depending on where you apply) in GCSE biology or chemistry or physics

See https://www.cambridgeinternational.org/exam-administration/private-candidates/ it has information for private candidates.

Finding an exam centre:
https://www.cambridgeinternational.org/exam-administration/private-candidates/register-as-a-private-candidate/
You must click on ‘find a centre’, and enter your city, it will state all exam centres in that city, and if they accept private candidates. If there is none in that city, change to a city that is close to you and try again.

Once you have found a centre, register with them the exams you need to take. You will have to pay to the exam centre to sit your exams for November.

E.g Using ‘find a centre’, the first result for London that accepts private candidate is A E C. If you click on A EC, you get directed to their website.

You can choose to do either Cambridge IGCSE (the exam centre information listed above is for cambridge) or Pearson Edexcel iGCSE. Once you have chosen the exam board, you can revise specifically for that exam board.
