Drama school

Hi,

I have been offered 2 MA Acting courses at Arts Ed and Central and have no idea which one to go for! I know that there is some amazing allumni from central but I feel Arts Ed is very up and coming

Any advice would be much appreciated or if anyone has studied at these schools?

Thank you ❤️

Hey there!

I've taken my offer from central for an MA in Advanced Theatre Practice. But I'm not going to tell you to take central...or Arts Ed.

For me, I only applied to central which was...ballsy. The reason why was because central was the only place that I felt like made my heart sing and made me feel like I could be myself. And I know, that in the future, I can look back regardless of what it is that I am doing and say...'I did that. I went to The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. And I loved it.' So to me, it was about loving somewhere so much that I think I am going to love it for years beyond the time that I spend there.

I don't know a lot about Arts Ed but it has a great reputation and it seems genuinely amazing. So I think you have to choose the school that makes you happiest, makes you the most excited and the one that you can see yourself loving for years to come.

If you still don't know after all of that, make a pros and cons list and work out what they are for both schools.

And finally, you're really the only person who can make the best decision for you.

Let me know if I can help any more.

What course at Central? I applied for Mountview, Arts Ed & Central… to be honest I discounted Mountview straight away. But choosing between arts ed and central is really tough. This has been my thought process and maybe it can help you:

Central: +more prestigious reputation and a lot of graduates have signed to reputable agents.

-I found the vibe my least favourite. It just feels very archaic and not ‘alive’. I wouldn’t feel excited to go to school, I’d be nervous and anxious.
Also have to choose between contemporary, Shakespeare and screen. Very limiting. Very expensive 22k vs 17k.

Arts ed: + lovely lovely course leader. Laid back yet serious vibe. Course leader is very open to changing things/adapt to the cohort. Non judgmental. Has a great reputation for MT, which means agents will attend things. very warm.

-The course is not as established or reputable. Post graduation agency representation not very strong- very hit or miss. Not in central London.
