Hey there, I did my French GCSE before half term, but some tips / resources to help:
https://lingua.com/ really good, they've got reading and listening questions and exercises, worth checking out
listening to podcasts in spanish, just put one on a day to get your ears used to hearing spanish and see if you can pick anything out
go over key vocab, using Quizlet flashcards, or stuff in your book and make sure you know what words mean
be comfortable with every tense, including the more tricky ones so if they appear in the reading or listening you can differentiate between whether something has happened, is happening or will happen as they usually use a variety of tenses to trick students
that's all I can think of, but good luck for spanish!

omg me too im lwk worse, im taking maths fm physics and chemistry/econ/bio (havent decided the fourth one yet but till be one of those three) and im dreading it too i mean i had a look at the physics textbook and JESUS CHRIST that scared me nfureqwibef. chemistry and bio and econ didnt seem too awful, further maths just looked like pain ngl

lmao, the amount of people ik taking maths, fm and physics is insane, but i do think they all work together really well. cl i'm actually looking forward to chemistry a-level and maths, but bio and fm are going to be the ones I'll take my time to like and yeah there's so much to do in fm, and to cram it into 2 years? gonna be studying like twice as hard to understand it 😭

yeahh loads of people are taking those three cause it really helps if you want to go into engineering, so does chemistry but i really dont like chem at all😭 ik its such a waste cause its my best subject by FAR like i get in the 90s on every paper while physics would be in the 70s, but i just really dislike it. should i take it? my views might change and it would really help me but idk i just dont like the formulas and shjebfhweifb

Well tbh, a-level chem might be better or worse, same with physics, so I'd pick something you know you'll want to do well in, so if you like physics, then you'll try harder in it, that's my logic anyway. I think people take chemistry because it's like a 'helper' subject, so most people do bio + chem or phy + chem as it apparently is useful in all sciences but for engineering you might not need it tbf, and if you do really well in maths, physics and fm then I don't think anyone'll really care if you did chem as engineering is, i think, more maths and physics

https://quizlet.com/gb/899444727/spanish-aqa-gcse-vocab-flash-cards/?i=4f5ac0&x=1jqt
this is my quizlet (its fairly comprehensive, and would definitely take you from an 8 to a 9 if you know most of the words in it)
for listening just spam PPQs, because whilsts podcasts can help, I think that there is definitely something about the familiarity of the people whose voices you are listening to, since they don't tend to change much on the exam tracks.
reading is pretty straightforward but just brush up on grammar if you don't know it well and then absolutely SPAM vocab because there r loads of words they could ask u about.

buena suerte!

Hello! Just curious why are you taking further maths with bio and chem? 🙂

Hi,which engineering would you like to go into, and which unis are you looking at? 🙂
I want to go into engineering and ive picked Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Further Maths, however i will almost 90% drop it as i dont think i can handle the workload even tho im precited a 9 in maths.

heyy, valid question, I'm thinking of going either into medicine or finance/maths (kinda random ik) so for oxford/cambridge (where i'd love to go if things go well) you need chem to do medicine, but for other unis, you need bio and chem is optional, so i don't want to narrow my options down. fm is just good in general as it gives you a competitive edge against other candidates, i mean that's what i think, as long as you do well in it, and i may do maths at uni or some finance/accountancy apprenticeship so i think fm will help improve my chances

I get youuu 🙂 I want to do engineering but i think i simply wont be able to handle the workload haha
Anyway do you have any super-curriculars for finance / medicine?
Also, how have your gcses been going?

hi! im actually looking at bath university for engineering! they have a really good stem department i think, also i just really love the city of bath and would love to live there. i will apply to oxford but to be more realistic i would say bath! also i think i would like to go into either electrical or aerospace engineering, they both seem super cool! what about you? i am also predicted a 9 in maths but i didnt do amazing on paper 1 so i hope its still in reach lol, but i think you should carry on with 4 subjects, because some schools dont see maths and further maths as completley seperate (even though they are🙄) so it might be better if you took all 4, then again try it out and see if your mental health can handle it😭

Yess igu, i initially wanted to do a computer science degree, so like electrical and electronic engineering for me but there are so many different types of engineering like i feel like design engineerign would be so interesting! Yes ill see how much the workload is, because like even the straight grade 9 students cant achieve good grades with 4 alevels... Ill probably end up doing maths physics and chemistry alevels.. Thats nice! Are you gonna look at any london unis?

I’d recommend using Quizlet to go over key vocab.

Here are some helpful links also to help improve your vocab:
https://www.westfield-chorustrust.org/_site/data/files/documents/languages/958DC5CCBFD76B4B061C76834B030007.pdf

Also try using some idioms! Practice the special tenses such as superlative or conditional.

When talking about something you like, e.g your favourite movie, comment someone else's opinion for example, ‘but my sister doesn’t like that movie as she thinks it is too scary’ even better if you can use a connective here such as ‘even though my sister doesn’t like reading books, I do’

thats cool! and dont think about all the grade 9 students, just think about yourself and what you are capable of! comparing yourself to others and all those that failed wont get you very far in life, so just because some people were not able to do well that has no impact on your success, so just think to yourself if you are capable of this, not anyone else! also yes i am looking at imperial aswell, there was a course about biotechnology ventures that involves biology, physics and economics which looks so good to me!
