Whenever I wash my hair it looks really nice for about a day and then starts going greasy at the top. My hair has also started looking more frizzy and I'm getting more split ends. Any advice for what products to use and in what order etc? Any fragrance free product recommendations would be especially appreciated as my mum is allergic to artificial fragances (100% natural fragrances are ok though) I usually use faith in nature but I'm just worried I'm doing something wrong! Thank you!

hi! first of all if your hair produces a lot of oil at the scalp i cannot recommend a boar bristle hairbrush enough- they’re GREAT for redistributing oil which could mean your scalp/roots are less oily and that oil instead goes to your lengths and prevents them from being frizzy (doesn’t have to be boar bristle specifically but any brush with that sort of bristle rather than plastic). could you tell me a bit more about your hair texture? is it thick/thin, fine/coarse, straight/wavy/curly/coily that sort of thing? also do you feel like your hair absorbs moisture quickly when you have a shower or does it take a little while for the water to actually get your hair wet rather than just sort of sitting on top of your hair? also do you currently use any other products like apart from shampoo or conditioner (like hair mousse, hair oil, hair masks n stuff like that)

Hi, sorry haven't had my phone so late reply. My hair is thin, gets wets straight away, is long, mostly straight but with some waves, and don't use anything else on my hair. Not even hairspray etc. Just shampoo and sometimes conditioner. Thanks for the tip about the hairbrush though, will def look into getting one!

frizz and split ends is usually hair breakage so just being a bit more gentle with your hair should help it (using a softer bristle brush would do this but it’s good to also have a brush to detangle as well as the bristle brush, just check the type of brush to make sure it’s anti-breakage, most are tbf but still good to check). sleeping with a satin bonnet or silk pillowcase prevents it too and also helps keep it styled if you ever style it (i suggest the pillowcase bc it’s good for skin too). with straight fine hair you should never brush it wet only ever dry as well, my hair is the opposite and brushing it dry always makes it poofy and frizzy and dead but straight hair tends to be the other way around. maybe also have a look at ‘strengthening’ shampoos and conditioners with a thick creamy texture rather than a runny one. i reckon the garnier ultimate blends collection shampoos and conditioners could be good- they say they use all natural extracts but i don’t know if that’s the same as using only natural fragrances so i’d double check. they have a bunch of different types and at the bottom of the bottles there’s a little ribbon that says “for dry frizzy hair” or for “fine hair and scalp” or smth like that so look for one that seems right for your hair type. if not, maui has a really good hair guide to finding out what shampoos are good for your hair- look for stuff that says it’s good for high porosity long hair. i had a look online and couldn’t find exactly if they use artificial fragrances but if they do it should be pretty easy to find other shampoos and conditioners if you search for shampoos for long straight high porosity etc hair (tik tok is great for this too btw). shampoos and conditioners with proteins in them are meant to be good too but they aren’t great for my hair type so i cant say first hand that they’re good. a vented paddle brush with gentle bristles might be good for detangling the lengths of your hair without breaking it too btw. also a serum might be a good idea for after a shower (or any time really) but double check the fragrances and stuff like that. hair serums are great bc you barely use any and you only use it on the lengths of your hair so your scalp isn’t getting any more oil than it already is. look for something that specifies it’s hydrating and or strengthening. hair masks are good too but i don’t wanna just give you a million and one products to buy so it’s not essential but if you do get one only do it once a week. sorry i couldn’t find too much about the fragrance side of things but hopefully you now know what sort of stuff to look for? i’ll have a better look later and let you know if i find anything more specific but i hope this has been somewhat helpful!

try hair oil before wash days, i tend to use amla/olive/almond oil on my hair before i wash it and it's very healthy for it, it helps with frizziness/split ends
